| 抄録: | In JAIST, students must take a minor research project in order to acquire a broader viewpoint, extensive knowledge and adaptive skills. We report the position of JAIST's minor research project in comparison with other minor programs. The domestic data on minor programs is based on reports by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan. The reporting points are as follows: (1) JAIST's minor research project is unique because it is compulsory for both master's and doctoral students in each of its three schools and the research term of at least 2 months is also unique; (2) A few graduate schools have arranged minor research courses they are more common in undergraduate schools in the United States. More and more undergraduate schools in Japan have set up minor courses as an option (not mandatory); (3) According to the survey results, JAIST's student are satisfied with education systems and directing of minor research project, but there are still some things we have to solve. |
