Abstract: This paper discusses a social design by humane engineering, from multiple viewpoints of design domains, which consists engineering design, information design, product design, and community design. Focusing on the fun in experience, we designed a personal navigation system in order to encourage the users fun-exploring at the zoo. In this study, we consider two types of users' mobility: walk and wheelchair. We conduct an experiment to evaluate the distance to be travelled and time required to explore a zoo by both mobility methods walking and wheelchair using our proposed system and comparing it with other navigation systems. The data obtained from all sessions of the experiment time and distance of a scroll and number of operations on a device were analyzed to compare the two navigation systems. Moreover, the timing of the automatic display of the information in the zoo was highly evaluated as positive among the participants. The results of the experiment suggest that the proposed system successfully encouraged the users to fun-explore the zoo not only by walking but also if the user is on a wheelchair.
