| 抄録: | It is widely accepted that eco-tourism is a new type of tourism based on symbiosis between tourism and the environment. Thus considerable amounts of studies have been made on it and its definition. However, particularly in Japan, little attention has been given to the point that eco-tourism belongs to the category of tourism. This paper examines several definitions of tourism both overseas and in Japan to specify eco-tourism. Furthermore, potentials of eco-tourism in the coastal zone in Japan are analyzed. The result shows that the enhancement of eco-tourism is extremely difficult. Instead of that, "eco-recreation" in the coastal zone near developed areas will expand. In addition, it seems reasonable to conclude that eco-tourism can be a measure for endogenous development. |
