Abstract: Noun phrase chunking is an important and usefultask in many natural language processingapplications. It is studied well for English, howeverwith Vietnamese it is still an open problem. This paperpresents a Vietnamese Noun Phrase chunkingapproach based on Conditional random fields (CRFs)models. We also describe a method to buildVietnamese corpus from a set of hand annotatedsentences. For evaluation, we perform severalexperiments using different feature settings. Outcomeresults on our corpus show a high performance withthe average of recall and precision 82.72% and 82.62% respectively.
