抄録: In this paper, we investigate the speech perception with effects of coarticulation within syllables,including: determining the nuclei and coarticulated transition segment of phonemes, investigating the perception of nuclei and coarticulated transition segment of phoneme within syllable. To complete these objectives, we firstly proposed the foldedspectral transition measure (FSTM) to determine theboundary points between the nuclei and coarticulated transition segment. Then, we conducted experiments to investigate the syllable identification and syllable quality evaluation over coarticulation. The experimental results show that human can identify the syllables with the retaining segment equal or wider the coarticulated transition segment. Besides, the experimental results show that the nuclei segment is still important forspeech quality perception; the quality of truncated syllables that retain the two phoneme nuclei segments and coarticulated transition segment between the two phonemes within syllable isequivalent with the quality of original syllables.
